Nerf (the trademark in the capital as NERF) is a toy brand created by Parker Brothers and currently owned by Hasbro. Most toys are various foam-based weapons, with other Nerf products including balls for sports such as soccer, basketball, and basketball. The most prominent toys are dart guns (referred to by Hasbro as “blasters”) that fire ammunition made of Nerf foam. Because many such items were released during the 1970s, Nerf products often featured bright neon colors and soft textures similar to Nerf flagship balls.
According to most interested people and the general public, Nerf stands for “non-developing recreational foam”. This is supported by the fact that arrows are made of solid and rubbery cellular material. To produce it, polyester resin reacts with other compounds in the presence of CO2 from other reactions. It is this gas that creates an open bag inside the polyurethane which, in turn, makes the material soft and light.
