The original Pocahontas is the son of the Wahunsenaca chief. The Pocahontas name at birth is Matoaka, which means flowers between two rivers. His mother was named Pocahontas and died while giving birth. Because the chieftain was very grieving, he called his daughter by the name of his deceased wife, Pocahontas.

Pocahontas’s first husband was an inland American, just like him. Her husband was killed by British soldiers. While Pocahontas was kidnapped, raped, and used by British colonies to give the image that relations between the colonies and the tribes were good. He was kidnapped by Captain Argall, then later Pocahontas was married to an Englishman named John Rolfe in order to gain support from the interior for his tobacco trade. After marriage, Pocahontas was brought to England and briefly met with Captain John Smith. Pocahontas was able to express the injustices he felt for the treatment of the colonists against the tribes. The end of Pocahontas’s life was dead due to poison at the age of 21 after having dinner with Rolfe and Argall.
